Biography:
Annette Brooke was a lecturer and teacher (Economics and Social Sciences) for more than 20 years before becoming MP for Mid Dorset & North Poole in 2001. Since then, she has held a number of front line posts including Liberal Democrat Shadow Spokesperson for Children (2004-); 2001-2004 Duty Whip; 2001-4 Shadow Ministerial Spokesperson and as a Home Office Member of the Select Committee on Public Administration. She has served as a member of Poole Borough Council and was Lead Member for Education, Sheriff 1996-1997, Mayor 1997-1998, Deputy Mayor 1998-1999, Deputy Leader of Ruling Liberal Democrat Group 1995-1997, 1998-2000, Chair of Environmental Strategy Working Party 1995-1997 and Chair of Education 1996-2000.
Annette is a member of RSPB, Wessex-Newfoundland Society, Poole Local Agenda 21.
She holds a BSc (Hons) Economics from the London School of Economics and a Certificate in Education - Hughes Hall, Cambridge University. She is a joint owner of small family business specialisingin rocks, minerals and gemstones. She is married with two adult daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym, reading and shopping with daughters.
